A heartbroken woman is divorcing her husband after she claimed that TikTok completely changed him. The 37-year-old mum said he is not the same person she married after 12 years of being man and wife together.

The pair have two daughters and were a solid couple who communicated well and although they occasionally argued, as partners do, were ultimately a team. However, one day the husband began acting out of character and started to complain about his wife, from her looks to her cooking and her work.

In a Reddit post, the distraught wife wrote : "One day my husband started obsessing over the traditional life. We were not a traditional couple. We both work, we both do chores and child care. He didn’t complain about it.

"Around March this year, he started acting weird. He complained about how I looked. He complained about the food. He complained about me working long hours. I work the same hours as he does. Throughout our marriage, he never had any complaints about the food I cook. I dress up in a more comfortable attire when I am in my house. He never had a problem with that ever."

She said that the problems began when he began to look at TikTok videos of women. The post went on: "It all started to change when he started to consume traditional TikTok videos. I noticed he watches videos of a certain popular TikTok girl who posts content about being a traditional wife. Her content look made up and not realistic to me because it was 100% made for the male audience. From there my husband started complaining."

According to the wife, the husband started comparing her with the TikTok user and asked questions such as why she couldn't dress or cook like this specific content creator. He even accused her of not loving him because she did not, "see me as an authority in my own house".

The woman tried to reason with and stop him from viewing the content but he insisted she quit her job and become a full-time housewife, which she said was impossible with their current incomes. The situation grew worse when the husband began sharing the videos on other social media sites and regularly verbally abused her. At one point he said he needed a "submissive" wife like the TikToker.

She wrote: "I told him this was all an act that she puts up for the world to see. This is not reality. Plus nobody cleans their house wearing pretty dresses. The dresses will get dirty. My husband would ignore me he would always compare me to his friend's wife who is a homemaker.

"He knew I wasn't the type of woman who wanted to be a homemaker. He had no problem with it. I tried to tell him to stop watching these type of contents. It really hurts me that he would idolize another woman rather than his wife."

The last straw came when she caught him talking to another woman. She added: "He wasn't even ashamed or felt remorse. He told me he deserves better." Now she is grieving over the loss of "a sweet loving husband over night over something stupid," and said he has moved on with the type of girl that he wanted.

Hundreds of online well-wishers rushed to console the woman and condemned the husband's callous actions. One person wrote: "It's sad. I hope your heart can heal and you can move on. Good luck to him supporting his new unemployed gf whilst he still pays for everything that you previously contributed towards."

Another blasted social media for its superficiality and harmful impact: "Social media can be the Devil. People need to realize that much like “Reality” TV. A lot of it is staged. Why are people determined to be self destructive? You deserve so much better. Best to you.

Although the woman didn't identify the TikTok user, some people felt they had an idea who it could be. One wrote: "Is the tiktoker estee williams? Because the way you described it sounds like her... Her videos are for male gaze," while another added: "Are you talking about Kelly Havens? That girl is bonkers."
